Cluster Service-21st May 2023

Just a reminder for Sunday 21st May 2023. Our joint cluster service at St David’s. We are also joined with our friends at Lenzie Union and Lenzie Old Parish Church. All are welcome.

Open day

Dear All,

As you will be aware, we have re-opened our church Doors to our community on the first Wednesday of each month and I would very much like to thank everyone who has volunteered to support us on these occasions.  

Our next Doors Open Day will be on Wednesday 7th June 2023, and we will look forward to a Lunchtime Promenade Organ Recital from our church organist David Burns. 

I look forward to welcoming you all to our sanctuary where refreshments will be served.

INTIMATIONS 14th MAY 2023

Christian Aid Week 14th to 20th May Get involved this Christian Aid Week The fundraising supported by churches, communities and individuals each May allows Christian Aid to provide relief and support when disasters hit, as well as underpinning long term development projects. If you would like to support Christian Aid Week, there will be a retiral collection today and on Sunday 28th of May. Donations will be most welcome and all monies raised will be sent directly to Christian Aid, to support this initiative. Thank you.

Joint Cluster Worship Service

Our joint service with all of the congregations in our cluster is nextSunday (21st of May) at St. David’s Memorial Park – 10:30am Pentecost – Sunday 28th of May Please wear something RED to Worship on Pentecost.

FairTrade – 90kg Rice Challemge. Buy your rice, after the service and help us to hit our 90kg target!

Wednesday ‘Warm Welcome’ Wednesday, from 9:00am until 12:00 All Welcome Tea & Coffee, with a short service of worship at 11:30am

Wonderzone Holiday Club This is our cluster holiday club – taking place from Tuesday 8th to Friday 11th of August. If you are interested in volunteering to help with this activity, you are invited to “sign up” on Sunday 21st May (after worship in SDMP).

Please Note: All volunteers will need to have PVG Disclosure. (Speak to Gordon or Ruth for more information).

Update 4- St Mary’s and St David’s Memorial Park

Key Decision/Highlights

  • • Discussions continue around the Basis of Union document and the need to formally designate buildings in terms of one being the place of worship, and one being the centre for outreach. That said, the plan is that both buildings can still be used for both worship and mission.
  • • Paul Cathcart shared work done so far on the supporting document
  • • This meeting focused on the missional aims of the united charge in the hope this conversation will help guide the committee on the best use of the buildings of both churches.
  • • Please pray for the team as they discuss and reflect on the Basis of Union.
  • • Our next meeting on 18th May will continue to envisage the future mission plan for the united charge.
