Welcome to SDMP!
We’ll be glad to welcome you to Sunday morning worship at 10.30am. There is no need to book a place – just show up and make yourself comfortable! We have activities available for young people, so why not bring the whole family – there’s a warm welcome for you all.
There is also a service every Tuesday at 12 noon, followed by tea and coffee. All are welcome to join us for either (or both!) services.
Check out our Facebook page for the latest news and details on upcoming events.
At the moment we are currently in vacancy, which means we don’t have a minister. However, we are grateful to our Interim Moderator, Dave Slater, to help us with running the business side of things during our vacancy, and so he moderates our Kirk Session meetings. Dave is also on hand to conduct the sacraments of baptism and communion.
Where to find us
We are located on Alexandra Street, Kirkintilloch, G66 1HE, with on street parking. There is also a regular bus service to Kirkintilloch from Glasgow. Lenzie train station is 1.5 miles away.

Pastoral Care
Pastoral care is a hugely important part of what we do. We have a duty of pastoral care to all in the parish – that’s individuals and all the businesses and organisations. Our Pastoral Care team is made up of people who want to reach out and connect with the people in our church, and those outwith.
If there is something on your mind that you’d like to speak to our Pastoral Care team about, please get in touch. Jacky, our pastoral care coordinator, will be glad to hear from you. You can get in touch by email.
During these times of vacancy and following the pandemic, it’s more important than ever that you get in touch and let the church know if you are in need of pastoral care. No one should feel alone or vulnerable, so please do let us know. We have a Locum in place and Jacky will contact him if this is required.
Prayer Chain
We believe that prayer is vital and that through prayer we can support people who are facing challenges in their lives. Our Prayer Chain is a group of people who receive a list of messages by email requesting prayers, who then pray in their own time for these situations. All requests for prayer are confidential so often the prayers are anonymous as we believe God knows for whom we are praying.
We pray for people facing illness, bereavement, redundancy, interviews; and also for joyful times such as the birth of a baby, an engagement or a reunion of friends – and everything in between!
We also have “thank you” prayers when folk want to give thanks for God’s intervention and support.
We pray for people near and far, of all faiths and none.
The Prayer Chain has been part of the church for 38 years now so many prayers have been said, and many people have told us how they feel comforted and have a sense of peace, that they are being upheld in prayer before God.
If there’s something you’d like our prayer chain to pray for, you can send a request to Jacky, who will send it round the group. You don’t have to give any personal details – you can make your request as general as you are comfortable with.

The Big Picture
In the current changing climate of the Church of Scotland, our church in Kirkintilloch has begun to work more closely with our neighbours at St. Mary’s, and with our friends at Lenzie Old and Lenzie Union Parish Churches. This page is dedicated to sharing the latest news in terms of what that work will look like both as a congregation, and as a cluster of congregations, and what changes we can expect to see in the coming weeks and months.
So what’s the latest?
Our two Kirk Sessions (that’s SDMP and St. Mary’s) have been meeting regularly since November 2022. These meetings were harmonious and as a result both Kirk Sessions agreed explore further the way towards a union of the two congregations. From this it was decided that a working party consisting of three Elders, three members, the two moderators and the two Session Clerks from each congregation should be established. This working party has met twice now, with regular meetings in the weeks ahead.
The working party will seek to formulate the Basis of Union document, this is a legal document which must be agreed by both Kirk Session and both congregations, it then needs to be approved by the Presbytery of Glasgow.
The newsletter below provides a summary of the key decisions and highlights from the last meeting. It also lists those from each of our two congregations who serve on this group. The working party meets fortnightly, and we will update you all accordingly after each meeting.
There is a box at the side door of the church (the entrance via the halls) and one in the Large Hall, both of which are there for your thoughts, questions and suggestions as to what you feel the group should consider.
