Open Minds . . . A welcoming Church . . .
It has been amazing to see how the Open door Open heart Open mind group has welcomed so many folk over the past few months into St. Mary’s. This has enabled many people who may not have crossed the threshold to venture into the church. People who have enjoyed cups of tea and coffee; listened to organ music; found a friendly face; someone to talk to; watched 35 teddy bears parachuted from the steeple; discovered a very busy cafe while 180 folk entered the church during the Canal Festival. This is hospitality at its best and this welcome is at the heart of who we are and what we are about. In the next few weeks it would be good to explore, expand and be part of Open Hearts . . . how we open ourselves to each other and those we don’t know. This would be achieved in a group meeting regularly to have a vision for the way ahead. Themes for each session have yet to be decided. If you are interested to find out more, please come to the new Ladies Room after the morning service at 12.15pm on Sunday 14th October to discuss this further.
Festival of Remembrance . . . The church will be holding a Festival of Remembrance to commemorate the end of World War 1 on Saturday 10th November at 4.15pm followed by refreshments in the hall.
